Education is a vital part of growing as a Christian. Each week Calvary sponsors Sunday School, an educational opportunity for all ages. Join us from 9:30 am to 10:30 am each week beginning Sunday, September 12, 2010. Sunday School continues through Sunday, May 22, 2011. Click here for a brief description of our Sunday School classes.
The Sunday School leadership is currently planning special Sundays for the 2010-2011 school year. Watch for more details as fall approaches. Each of these special Sundays will be an opportunity for the entire family to learn of God's love TOGETHER!
There will also be several Sundays scheduled for the Sunday School children to participate in worship. These are important opportunities for the children to share the message with the congregation and also for the children to be a part of our worship services.
We encourage everyone to register early for the fall session. Click on the Sunday School icon below for a printable registration form.
Below is a brief description of each of Calvary's Sunday School classes:
First Steps (birth to age 3): Along with a parent, children, birth to age three, are welcomed into this warm, safe setting where they experience their first taste of Sunday School. Through stories, songs, and interactive play these tiny Christians begin their lifelong journey of growing in faith. Meets in the Nursery.
Elementary (3 years - 5th grade): Students begin each Sunday with a large group opening in the sanctuary. The group leader(s) introduce the story and theme of the day through skit, song, puppets, and/or interactive storytelling. The students then go to their classrooms where they study the day’s Bible story in an age-appropriate way. This learning opportunity encourages students to live out their faith in their daily lives. Calvary uses the "Faithweaver" curriculum. Begins in Sanctuary.
Middle School (6th – 8th Grades): Our Middle School students learn about God in a contemporary way. Students will cover a variety of topics, from the Reformation to the book of Acts, current topics and how faith fits into everyday life. Meets in Middle School Room.
High School (9th – 12th Grades): Students will focus on "Journeys," covering Paul's missionary journeys, and our journeys as people of faith. Lively discussion, video clips and more! Meets in Youth Room.
Adult Christian Education: Past studies have included video & book series, Bible studies, Lutheran studies, and more. This year, we will once again be utilizing the video series “Faith Lessons: That The World May Know” by Ray Vander Laan. From September 20th thru October (except Sept. 27th-Opportunity International), we will study “the Early Church”.
