Guatemala Medical Mission: This is a Christian based group of orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technicians, nurses, physical therapists, interpreters, and other medical/surgical personnel who travel to Guatemala 4 times per year to treat indigent Guatemalan patients who have musculoskeletal problems. Twice per year this group organizes and runs clinics where they treat patients non-operatively and find those who are in need of orthopedic surgery. Then twice per year they take surgical teams to perform orthopedic surgery as well as run clinics. Surgery is performed on both children and adults. Surgeries include a range of orthopedic surgeries such as clubfoot correction, other foot surgery, hand surgery, total joint surgery, amputations, arthroscopy, nerve repair, bone grafting, and prosthetic orthotic prescriptions.
The medical mission group works with local Guatemalan physicians in treating patients and in hands-on training opportunities. All of the patients treated have local follow-up in Guatemala. In addition, the group donates equipment, supplies, and medications to the clinics and hospitals where they work.
All participants pay their own way. 98% of all donations go for medical and surgical treatment, supplies, medications, and equipment. All services are free and no charges are made to patients for the care.
Lutheran Summer Music: Since 1982, the Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM) has been the pinnacle program of Lutheran Music Program. They bring together 150+ young people from throughout the United States for four weeks of rigorous musical study and performance in a supportive community. They welcome qualified band, orchestra, choir, piano and organ students completing grades 8-12 from all faith backgrounds.
The summer camp is held at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and will run June 20 to July 18 this year.
Compassion International: Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.
Rogers Spiritual Ministry: The Spiritual Care Program exists to evaluate, plan and implement one-to-one support and group programming that will encourage and bring hope, while meeting the spiritual needs of patients under the care of Rogers Memorial Hospital. The Spirituality Coordinator and Chaplain work hand-in-hand with the medical staff through participation in the multi-disciplinary team approach, as well as by building partnerships with leaders of other faith communities for the purpose of referrals. Lutherdale: Camping is a vital ministry of the Church. Each year thousands of people use the program and facilities of our church camps. Camps are a whole other world where kids and adults can enjoy the great outdoors and experience God in an intense way. Year after year, youth go to camp and come back singing, telling stories of their counselors, new friends made and begging to go back next year. Many of us have some of our fondest memories set at Bible Camps. Lutherdale provides not only on-site camping opportunities at their facilities near Elkhorn, WI, but provides us with a staffed program for our Vacation Bible School day camp experience.
Mission Servant Week: Each year Calvary sets aside one week for members to go out into the community together and do hands-on mission work. This year’s annual Mission Servant Week is scheduled for Saturday, June 20 through Friday, June 26. Projects in the works thus far include work at Lutheran Social Services, Hope Christian School, and Corp Care as well as sponsoring a Blood Drive at Calvary. Join other Calvary workers as we reach out into the community by helping with many meaningful projects and tasks.
Ngong Road Children’s Foundation: Friends of Ngong Road and Ngong Road Children Association is a partnership of volunteers in the U.S. and Kenya with a deep belief in the value of education and the hope it can bring to young lives. Lutheran World Relief: Every day in 35 countries, Lutheran World Relief (LWR) works to combat the causes of poverty and the dignity it robs from people’s lives. They advocate for Fair Trade that helps farming families and artisans earn a better income. LWR teaches people to better care for themselves, their communities and the environment and also teaches people how to be less vulnerable to natural disasters. LWR advocates with and for them for policy change that more fairly represents them. They counsel them after manmade and natural disasters, and help them recover with material aid. All of this is done exclusively with partners from the communities served. The partners help LWR remain incredibly efficient and effective. LWR partners let them help people help themselves…for “a day when they won’t need us at all”.
Lutheran World Relief’s service with our neighbors in need from the United States to the far corners of the world is built upon the prayers and the faithful participation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Over 2,800 parish groups and individuals across the nation support this important international effort.
ELCA World Hunger Appeal: The World Hunger Appeal improves the lives of people in need in the United States and around the world by:

Serenity Inn: Serenity Inns Inc. is a comprehensive, seven month transitional living program for homeless men who choose recovery from drug and/or alcohol addictions. This program addresses the physical, social, emotional, financial, and spiritual needs of its residents. It is a highly structured program modeled after a program of recovery within the ministry of Shared Hope in Washington, D.C. - Samaritan Inns - that has been successfully operating for the past 30 years.
The project was born out of concern from parishioners and clergy in five Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregations situated in the geographical heart of much of the city's drug traffic. Staff members in these congregations have had daily and weekly ministries with addicted persons for more then 20 years.
Once a month Calvary members provide a meal to the Serenity Inn housing facility, located in Milwaukee.
